How Many Spatulas Do You Need?

spatulasAnswer….. Not as many as you have.

Almost every day in the kitchen we rummage through the, cheese grater, garlic press, big salad spoons and forks, steak thermometer, measuring spoons, spaghetti spoon, ice cream scoop, an incomplete corn on the cob utensil set, cracked wooden spoons, plastic spoons, tongs, wire whisk, bamboo skimmer, pasta scoop, pizza cutter, bottle opener, cookie cutter, pie and cake server, cheese knife, cherry pitter, corkscrew, crab cracker and dough scraper just to get to our favorite spatula.

Here we go again! When was the last time you used these things?

Some ideas.

Take the contents of  entire drawer to garage and as you need them, take them back into the kitchen one by one. Although that crab cracker might come in handy one day, is it worth keeping? What else could you use? What did they use before someone invented the crab cracker?

Take out what you have used this week. The rest of it goes into a bag and again like the suggestion above, take to garage or pantry and pull out what you need one by one.

The 2 steps above are little tricks that may help but you could also be brave and just get rid of what you haven’t used in a year. If a year doesn’t work for you then go with 5 years. You’ll need to be honest with yourself and just do it. What is the worst that could happen?

If you happen to through out something you at one point could have used, use something else. It really won’t be the end of the world. Besides, someone else will be able to use and you’ll feel more organized every time you open the kitchen drawer or grab out of the utensil holder.

Less clutter is easier on the eye!
